We have seen in a previous post how to install Magento on your Windows computer , we will see now how to install the test database.

Why go to the page download the Magento site and click on the Download Sample Data.

Choose the zip format, if you use the software 7-zip (or another) that we presented in our previous videos.

Unzip your zip file (right-click the mouse on the zip file - extract), you get a file ... magento_sample_data_for sql.

You now need to import this file into your database.

The easiest way to install this and test database before installing Magento , why repeat the video above to install Magento locally on your computer and stop after creating your database.

Open your browser and run phpmyadmin (type into your browser: http://localhost/phpmyadmin )

Select your Magento database, you just have to click on the Import tab.

In the Location text file, select your file: magento_sample_data_forâ € | sql you previously unzipped and click on Run.

Your test database is now installed, you can continue installing our Magento following video.

At the end of the Magento installation your home page will contain items of the test database:

Magento store with its home page complete

It was empty, without any product, if you had not installed the test database:

Magento store with his empty home page

It may be interesting to install a test database in some cases, especially when you want to get an idea of the product. Indeed, it is much more convenient to refer to categories, PRODUCTSABOUTENVIRONMENTS € | to create existing hers.

By cons once you master Magento well I suggest you get back on a vacuum in order to see all stages of creation and thus to anticipate the questions and problems you encounter when you squeeze into production.

Here I think you have all the elements to test the creation of your shop on the excellent product that is Magento. If you find this description not detailed enough and according to your request, we will take a video on installing Magento with the test database.

Thank you!

Just a small clarification, check that you download the data samples for your version of Magento.

Good luck, and continue as on the blog!
