We have seen in a previous post how to install Magento on your Windows computer, we will now see how to install the test database.

To do this go to page download Magento site and click on the Download Sample Data.

Select zip format, if you use the software 7-zip (or another) that we presented in our previous videos.

Unpack your listing zip (right click the mouse on the zip file - extract), you get a file ... magento_sample_data_for sql.

Now you need to import this file into your database.

The simplest and install the test database before installing Magento, why repeat the video above to install Magento locally on your computer and stop after creating your database.

Open your browser and start phpmyadmin (type into your browser: http://localhost/phpmyadmin)

Select your database Magento, it'll just click on the Import tab.

In the Location text file, select your file magento_sample_data_forâ € | sql you previously unzipped and click Run.

Your test database is now installed, you can continue installing Magento by following our video.

At the end of the installation of Magento your home page will contain articles on the basis of test:

Magento Shop with its home page complete

It was empty, without any product if you did not install the test database:

Magento shop with his empty home page

It may be interesting to install a test basis in some cases, especially when you want to get an idea of the product. There is indeed much more convenient to refer to categories, producing its € | available to create his own.

By cons once you've mastered well Magento I will leave on board an empty database in order to see all stages of creation and thus to anticipate the questions and issues that you encounter when you tighten production.

Here I think you have all the elements to test the creation of your shop on the excellent product that is Magento. If you find this description detailed enough to suit your application, we will take a video on installing Magento with the basic test.

Thank you!

Just a small clarification, check that you download the data samples corresponding to your version of Magento.

Bonne continuation, and continue like that on the blog!
